Hike at Parrot's Bay Conservation Trail, Kingston, Ontario

This is a beginner's hike with nice clean trails.  The hike progresses around Parrot's Bay, however there is a short stretch along Hwy 33 that you must trek to make the connection from the East side of the trail to the West side.  There is only one steep location on the trail but the footing here is very good.

Where the trail begins on the Taylor Kidd side.

A narrow part of the trail.

From the open and into the cover of the woods

The trail scoots along a marsh

Under the tall pines alongside Parrott's Bay

The steepest part on the trail in my opinion

Ducks and geese on the bay

Hiking into the pine trees

Saint John, New Brunswick

Saint John is Canada's "Original City" settled by the Loyalists and incorporated in 1785.  With a population of 70,000 it is New Brunswick's largest city.  Also known as the 'Port City' Saint John is home to the largest oil refinery in Canada owned by the local Irving family.  On the coast of the Bay of Fundy, the tides here boast a 28 ft vertical change thus allowing the claim of the highest tides in the world.  A popular tourist site is the old downtown (shown below) that will swallow up to 3000 tourists from each cruise ship that drops anchor in the harbour.  Be sure to see King Square at the top of King Street, or as the locals say, "uptown".

Saint John and it's inner harbour at midday.

A low bank of fog lays quietly off shore preparing to engulf the old downtown.
Ships shining their night lights await tug escorts just outside the inner harbour.
